Amsterdam / Rotterdam As a Solution Architect you will help shape the digital future of DPG Media’s news brands, making an impact every day through our news media, magazines, online services, radio and TV. What will you do?
You will translate business needs and editorial requirements into stable, robust, and efficient technical solutions that support high-quality digital journalism. By partnering closely with cross-functional development teams, you ensure that technical designs integrate seamlessly into the DPG Media ecosystem. Without you in this role, we risk losing architectural alignment, technical quality, and the ability to execute our digital strategy successfully across 16 leading news brands.

You do this by:

• Supporting cross-functional squads in an Agile and DevOps environment.

• Translating the business roadmap into a clear TO-BE architecture and implementable work packages.

• Helping teams make well-founded design decisions based on Domain-Driven Design and Aligned Autonomy.

• Aligning with stakeholders on initiatives and the business impact of technical choices.

• Collaborating with other architects across the organisation and contributing actively to our Architecture Community of Practice.

Who are we?
We are the News Area within DPG Media – 7 development teams serving 16 brands such as AD, HLN, Volkskrant, Trouw and Parool. Our mission is to deliver high-quality digital journalism supported by state-of-the-art technical solutions. We believe in building cross-functional teams with strong domain knowledge, close collaboration, and architectural excellence. We value visibility and connection, which is why we regularly work together from Amsterdam and Rotterdam. Tuesday is our shared office day in Rotterdam, Thursday in Amsterdam – natural moments to collaborate, align, and connect.

What makes you the ideal candidate?
For this role we are looking for an experienced and driven Solution Architect who thrives in complex organisational environments. You bring:

• 5+ years of experience in Solution Architecture in larger organisations.

• Experience in enterprise-level and solution architecture, with clear understanding of the distinctions.

• Strong knowledge of Domain-Driven Design and architectural best practices.

• Proven ability to model, maintain, and communicate architectural visions and priorities.

• Leadership skills and decision-making capability, combined with a team-oriented mindset.

• Excellent stakeholder communication and community facilitation skills.

• Experience guiding teams in architectural choices while maintaining consistency and quality.

• Proficiency with cloud services, preferably AWS.

• Passion for design, architecture, and agile product development (Scrum or similar).

💰 A salary that matches your work experience.
