Job description
Antwerp - Are you looking for a challenging and educational experience as a Product Owner? Then this role in a data-driven and rapidly changing environment is precisely what you are looking for!
Within the DPG IT Data Area, the Platform Team aims to empower users to securely, cost-effectively, and easily build their common use cases, thereby creating value for DPG Media. In the transition to the DPG Data Mesh, where data products are built and run in data domains, the Platform Team maintains a technical platform that ensures the security, ownership, discoverability, and standardisation of data within the organisation.
This platform ensures:
Standardisation and application of best practices
A flexible approach to the technology offering
Maximising user adoption of the tools used
Creating a secure data environment
What are your responsibilities?
You organize and structure the work of the Platform Team and engage with various stakeholders to understand their needs and requirements for the Data Platform. You will maintain and update the existing long-term vision for the platform, ensuring it effectively supports the Data Mesh and data use cases within the organisation. This vision is translated into clear requirements that enable the team to work efficiently. In consultation with stakeholders, the team, and the Data Area Manager, you determine priorities and seek appropriate tools and technologies. You facilitate team discussions regarding the content of the work and help the engineers maintain their focus by acting as a filter for incoming requests. In this way, you manage not only the Product Backlog but also the roadmap, proactively communicating with stakeholders about both.
You work in an Agile team of driven and enthusiastic engineers, in close collaboration with a dedicated Architect and Scrum Master.
Who are you?
You are an experienced Product Owner:
You have a proven track record in this role.
You demonstrate leadership and influence others without formal authority, motivating the team to work together towards common goals.
You demonstrate the analytical and learning capabilities typically associated with a bachelor's degree education.
You trust the engineers in their work and provide support where needed.
You work well in a team and are a strong, assertive communicator.
You are results-oriented and strive daily to improve yourself, the process, and the product in a natural way.
You enjoy creating structure and know how to bring order to the chaos that can arise from the combination of short and long-term goals and changing requirements.
You recognize and apply Agile values in your daily work.
You are a stakeholder manager:
With your open mindset and approachable attitude, you maintain positive and effective relationships with stakeholders and team members.
You act as a bridge between the team and stakeholders, effectively managing their expectations.
You make clear decisions and can respectfully say ‘no’ when necessary.
You communicate realistic objectives to both stakeholders and team members.
You understand the needs of both engineers and stakeholders, which helps you in communication and negotiation.
You explain technical concepts in an understandable way to non-technical stakeholders and vice versa.
You get plus points for:
Being fluent in both Dutch and English.
Obtaining a PO certification or being willing to do so in the near future.
Holding at least an HBO/Bachelor’s degree.
Having experience in a data-driven organisation.
You've worked closely with Data Engineers in a previous role.
Location and Duration of the Assignment
This vacancy is for a full-time position on a payroll basis.
