ML Platform Solution Architect & Engineer

Antwerp/Amsterdam/Vilvoorde - The ML Platform solution architect & engineer plays a central role within the ML Platform team. We are the driving force behind the strategic technology that enables our ML-driven use cases throughout the company like powering features like search and recommendations on popular apps such as de Volkskrant, HLN, and VTM-Go. Because our platform serves the entire DPG data- and product development community, your work will be highly visible and have a massive impact across the organization.

In this dynamic environment, you ensure that ML technologies are utilized in a coherent, scalable, and secure way. You contribute to the long‑term vision of enabling accessible, high-performing ML model deployment. Working closely with the Data Area Manager and Product Owner, you translate this vision into concrete initiatives and epics that shape our roadmap. Key responsibilities

Solution architecture

• Advise DPG Media on ML platform technologies, including their configuration, evolution, and alignment with the overarching enterprise strategy;

• Monitor and guide how these technologies are adopted across the organization, ensuring they empower ML-driven use cases and comply with governance principles;

• Collaborate with the Data Area Manager and Data Domain Architect to define priorities and guarantee architectural coherence within the broader enterprise landscape;

• Translate the long‑term architectural vision into practical, actionable platform features, maintaining a clear overview of technical dependencies.

• Participate in the Enterprise Architecture Community of Practice in order to collaborate with other architects and share your domain knowledge and practices.

Platform Engineering

• Act as a hands-on technical expert to troubleshoot and resolve complex, high-level platform and model deployment issues

• Continuously develop and apply your expertise in our core MLOps stack (Kubernetes, ML flow, and Kubeflow)

• Serve as a crucial bridge between platform users (like Data Scientists and ML Engineers) and the platform engineering team, translating technical challenges into robust solutions

• Help shape our engineering culture by setting best practices, documenting solutions, and actively participating in co-location days, guilds, and communities of practice

Who are you?

• You are an experienced IT professional with a solid background in platform engineering and proven experience with Kubernetes. Hands-on experience with MLflow and/or Kubeflow is highly preferred

• You have a deep understanding of modern MLOps ecosystems, model lifecycles, and scalable model serving

• You are a natural, empathetic communicator, highly skilled at explaining complex technical concepts to both engineering peers and business stakeholders

• You thrive on solving complex problems and take a proactive, hands-on approach to implementing technical solutions

• Most importantly, you are passionate about driving a positive, supportive, and scalable user experience across our entire ML platform

• Our core team is based in Antwerp and Vilvoorde, but we are open to talent from all over the Netherlands and Belgium. Do you live in Belgium? Then we expect you to be at the office 2 to 3 days a week on average for optimal collaboration. Do you live in the Netherlands? In that case, we will agree on a more flexible schedule, where we welcome you to Belgium at least once a week to maintain the connection with the team and the area.
