Data Scientist/ML Engineer – Video Recommendations

Imagine helping to shape what millions of users see when they open their streaming app, helping them find what they want, and discovering new content.

We are looking for an insights-focused Data Scientist/ML engineer to join our Recommendations and Search team at DPG Media. You will work alongside a team of ML Engineers on some of the most innovative ML applications in the region and industry. The company and your team members will actively support you to grow your skills and expertise. You will evaluate the impact of our recommendation features, providing key insights that shape the future direction and strategy of the team. On the other hand, you will be responsible for the production system, extending our recommendation back-end, and growing your expertise in the field of machine learning and software engineering.

What You'll Do

• Although you are a skilled ML engineer, you’ll make a difference in the team by inspiring them with thoughtful analysis and insights around of recommendation features on the platform. You’ll present your results to the team and advise on how to improve the impact of our recommendation features
  

• Actively participate in brainstorms to improve both our back-end and our algorithms, building ML models in order to produce better recommendations and monitoring and troubleshooting the production system
  

• Design and implement comprehensive A/B tests, making sure that we track all relevant metrics and that we're learning at every step along the way
  

• Grow and learn

  • You will grow your expertise in the field of Machine Learning and Software Engineering, supported by team members and company resources.

  • Keep up with developments in the wide field of Recommendations and Machine Learning.
    

• Support operational excellence through practices like code review and pair programming.

Who You Are

• You have a strong background in Machine learning with experience in recommender systems and personalized machine learning in general.

• You have hands-on experience developing and productizing solutions written in Python.

• You care about agile software processes such as code reviews and pair programming.

• You are experienced with data pipelines like Airflow, Dbt, and Kafka.

• You naturally excel at connecting the dots, turning large complex data into pragmatic insights, and identifying links that drive meaningful improvements.

• You care about digital media products.

Where You'll Be

• DPG has offices in several places in Belgium and the Netherlands. The team meets twice a week in Vilvoorde, once a month in Antwerp. Occasionally we travel to Amsterdam to collaborate with our Dutch colleagues.
