Data Platform Software Engineer

Antwerp - At DPG Media’s IT Data Area, the Data Platform Team builds and maintains the cloud platform that makes secure, scalable, and easy data usage possible across the company. As we transition toward a Data Mesh, our focus is on providing a robust technical foundation— so every department in our company can build valuable data products, while we ensure standardization, security, and discoverability.

Your role

As a Software Engineer, you’ll be the crucial link between our data platform experts and its users. You’ll onboard new teams, users, and projects onto the Data Platform, ensuring they have all the guidance and knowledge needed to get started smoothly.

You’ll become a trusted go-to for troubleshooting and resolving incoming issues, documenting solutions, and making sure no one gets stuck. By acting as a proxy between users and the engineering team, you’ll help translate needs, priorities, and improvements, ensuring a high-quality experience for everyone.

Building strong relationships with stakeholders—including a DevRel focus—you’ll help foster a collaborative and supportive data community across DPG Media.

What will you do?

• Guide new teams, users, and projects through a smooth onboarding process.

• Document procedures, common issues, and solutions to help others find answers quickly.

• Troubleshoot and resolve platform-related issues, acting as the initial responder for user queries.

• Serve as a communication bridge between users and platform engineers, relaying feedback, requests, and technical challenges.

• Build positive relationships with stakeholders, contributing to our Developer Relations efforts.

• Continue developing your own expertise in our key data platform technologies (AWS, CI/CD, Airflow, Snowflake, DBT, Spark).

• Help shape our engineering culture by sharing knowledge, setting best practices, and actively participating in our data community through co-location days, guilds, and communities of practice.

Who are you ?

• You’re an experienced engineer in IT, who enjoys solving problems and helping others succeed.

• You thrive on troubleshooting and take a proactive approach to finding solutions.

• You have a basic grasp of data modeling and are eager to deepen your expertise in our platform stack.

• You’re a natural communicator, approachable and empathetic. You're skilled at explaining technical topics to different levels of expertise.

• Most of all, you’re passionate about creating a positive, supportive user experience across our data platform.
