Data - Area Architect

Antwerp/Amsterdam - As Data Area Architect, you are one of the key drivers behind DPG Media’s data-driven strategy. Together with the Platform Manager and Area Manager of the Data Area, you help define, shape and implement the future vision for data.

You are responsible for establishing the architectural direction and maintaining an overview of what gets built by the teams in the data area and how they interface with other IT components. But perhaps more importantly, you help the ‘entire’ organization to become truly data-driven. You thus steer and influence others outside of our area towards an organizational data-mesh transformation by helping them build data products. 

With this transformation towards data mesh, we have three objectives: increase the stability of our data landscape, increase self-service data capabilities and reduce the complexity of our data lake. You're one of the key players to drive this change.

Main focus

• To make sure that backlogs & technical design happens based on quality attributes (complete set) and based on Domain Driven Design

• To guide the Community of Practice within the area

Responsibilities

• Model, maintain, and communicate the architectural vision and priorities of the area, encompassing requirements, guidelines, and constraints from multiple stakeholders (enterprise, other areas, area, business).

• Guide the Community of Practice within the area.

• Ensure consistency of architecture/design decisions within the area to achieve area-wide and enterprise-wide optimization.

• Serve as the final decision-maker when consensus cannot be reached in a timely or consistent manner within the area.

• Contribute to and commit to the enterprise town plan.

• Assist and facilitate both in Enterprise, Solution, and Technical architecture where and when appropriate.

Your profile

• +3 years of experience in solution architecture

• Extensive experience with Domain-Driven Design and architectural best practices.

• Proven track record in modeling, maintaining, and communicating architectural visions and priorities.

• Strong leadership and decision-making abilities.

• Excellent communication skills to interact with stakeholders and facilitate community practices.

• Experience in guiding and coaching teams in architectural decision-making and consistency

• Strong understanding of data modeling, data management, data pipelines and database design.

• Expertise in designing and implementing streaming data solutions using technologies like Apache Kafka, Apache Flink, or similar.

• Proficiency with cloud services (preferably AWS) for data processing and storage.

Nice to haves

• Experience with tracking solutions like Google Analytics, Snowplow or similar technologies

• Experience with data governance and security.

• Understanding of data mesh principles and their implementation in enterprise environments

• Experience with Snowflake

The Data Area consists of 3 teams: Tagging & Tracking, the Data Platform Team and the Data Governance Team. The teams are based in Antwerp and Amsterdam. We work in an Agile philosophy and are open to flexible working regimes.
