QA Engineer

Job description

Amsterdam - “Quality above all” that is your priority as a QA engineer as you take care of the final quality check before our new features reach millions of readers.

On a daily basis, our content impacts millions of readers, making DPG Media the biggest media house of The Netherlands and Belgium. We have built a white-label platform for web and app, desktop, mobile and tablet use. This platform services our premium news brands: De Volkskrant, Trouw, Het Parool, De Morgen and HUMO.

What you will be doing

You will be a quality gatekeeper. This means that a lot of software that has been built passes through your hands before going live. You test the software in various ways and anticipate the issues that might arise. Naturally, you work with the developers to have it fixed. Your main responsibilities are:

  • Continuously building, running and maintaining our test automation suite in close collaboration with the developers and stakeholders. Also testing manually when needed.
  • Deep diving into the code and figuring out where it goes wrong.
  • Guide more junior team members into seniority.

About the team

The team you’ll be working in, is responsible for creating features that our readers will be using. A good amount of code reviewing is done and quality remains ever important. With about 6 team members you will work together closely, have a lot of contact and keep on improving.

We offer

  • An experience-based salary.
  • 36-hour workweek.
  • 12% in flexible benefits (of which 8% is holiday allowance).
  • A percentage of profit shares.
  • Reimbursement of travel expenses.
  • 24 paid holiday days.
  • Location in Amsterdam.
  • Fully paid functional technical training.
  • The opportunity to work with the latest tech stack.

Job requirements

Who are you

As a successful QA Engineer you have a positive and solution-oriented approach towards team members and stakeholders. You actively acquire information from stakeholders, rather than relying on written specifications. Also, you work with a QA mindset by making quality control a whole team approach rather than doing all the testing by yourself. We also expect of you:

  • You have experience in working in a continuous delivery environment with a high focus on automation.
  • Experience with Cucumber, Selenium and/or Appium testing frameworks.
  • Experience testing Java, Javascript, React, React Native, iOS Native and/or Android Native.
  • Basic AWS skills, CI/CD experience.
