PHP Developer

Job description

As a PHP developer, your main responsibilities are PHP development for custom applications and development within a Wordpress and Drupal environment, within an AWS environment.

The Magazines area

Within the Digital Products cluster of our IT organisation, the Magazines Area creates the best experiences across the digital presence of some of the leading magazine brands in the Netherlands: like Tina, Flair, Zozitdat, Flow magazine and Vivaforum. Furthermore we are responsible for several event-sites, that are set up for specific events.

About the team

Your team is part of the Magazines Area, where new digital products are built for the Donald Duck readers and guiding brands like Veronicamagazine and Superguide. You’ll be mainly working within the digital content team, one of the three development teams within the department. Although the teams work independently, we encourage knowledge sharing and reuse of technology and tooling. This also makes it possible to switch between teams. The teams build and run the platforms for web and app, desktop, mobile and tablet use.

What you will be doing
You will work in an Agile, Scrum, you build it, you run it environment. And it would be great if you also have some knowledge and interest in devops so you can work together on this with our dedicated devops team member.

  • In this role you are responsible for the back-end development and maintenance of 12 magazine titles which are built within Wordpress and contain a lot of custom build plugins and several integrations with other DPG services like authentication and consent.

  • Also, you’ll be working on custom platforms, built on Symfony and in the future on Laravel. And a custom PHPbb application like Vivaforum.

  • Next year we are planning to migrate two of our websites to a Drupal environment which you will contribute to as well.

We offer

  • An experience-based salary.
  • 36-hour workweek.
  • 12% personal choice budget (of which 8% is holiday allowance).
  • Participation in the profit sharing arrangement.
  • Personal development opportunities such as education, training and certificates.
  • Location in Amsterdam (currently we work from home).
  • Working with the latest stack.
  • Knowledge sharing from our tech colleagues.
