Who We Are
At Reclamefolder.nl, we believe it is possible to help people save on their daily expenses. Our app and site are already used by 1.5 million Dutch people every month, but our ambition goes much further. In fact, we are in the middle of a transformation where we want to modernize the digital brochure further. In this process, we are changing from a folder platform to a marketplace for deals. To achieve this, the platform needs a complete overhaul.

Reclamefolder.nl has a startup culture, with a total of 25 colleagues working in IT, marketing, and sales disciplines. We are part of DPG Media, but operate completely independently. This allows you to have a lot of influence on business operations, and at the same time, there is a lot of expertise available to further develop the platform.

The Job
As a lead developer at Reclamefolder.nl, you are responsible for technological developments and you determine the direction together with your team. You work on the current platform and our greenfield platform. Both consist of a back-end, website, and mobile apps. Your work will mainly focus on the development of the backend. Of course, it is important to take into account the website and mobile development.

Roughly, your time is divided into: 35% development and technical challenges of our greenfield platform, 35% maintenance and development of our current platform, 15% scrum and organizational meetings, 15% supporting and coaching colleagues on both platforms. In short, a role in which you can make an important contribution in many different areas.

A Typical Workday (On-Site) at Reclamefolder.nl
You naturally start with a good cup of free coffee from the barista in our brand-new building; Mediavaert. Chat with colleagues and then get to work. In the daily stand-up, you share the challenges and developments from yesterday and today. You have a meeting with your developer colleagues to discuss a technological challenge or decision to be made and then participate in one of the scrum sessions to refine the requirements for the next bi-weekly sprints.

A delicious affordable (or your own) lunch with your colleagues in the restaurant and a quick stroll around the building. You help your colleague proceed by reviewing their pull request. Then it's time to dive into the code yourself and ensure you add a piece of quality to our greenfield project. Take a moment to answer a colleague's question about our current platform and keep going. When the day is done, it's time to relax, looking forward to another workday from your own home!

We work two days a week in the office and make sure to schedule most of our meetings on these days. The other days you can work from home and have more focus time.

Your Skills and Our Tech Stack
To fill this lead developer role, we expect that you have held a similar position at least once, where you have gained (long-term) experience with the technological challenges that come with a rapidly developing organization.

For the development and maintenance of our current platform, we expect you to have knowledge of TypeScript and Postgres. It is also an advantage if you have experience with Functional programming, Kubernetes, Terraform, and Google Cloud. We also work with Apollo GraphQL.

For our greenfield platform, we expect you to quickly familiarize yourself with new technology and have experience with topics such as; architecture, infrastructure, quality control, automated testing, monitoring, continuous integration, data storage, and analysis. It is a bonus if you have already mastered some of our choices. We are currently using Rust, Rocket, Opensearch, Postgres, Kubernetes, Pulumi, GitOps, Monorepo, TypeScript, and AWS.
