Kotlin Developer

Job description

Hoofddorp - As a senior back-end developer within the Donald Duck squad you’ll contribute to one of the coolest new digital products within DPG Media: the recently launched Donald Duck app, for iOS and Android, both smartphone and tablet.

With these apps, and the corresponding custom made CMS, we have created a whole new reading experience for reading the Donald Duck magazine. And we have ambitious plans to continuously improve the reading experience by adding new functionalities together with our target audience. Donald Duck is a premium brand and we take the quality and safety of our products very seriously (and in the meantime we have fun working on it!).

What you will be doing

We have developed our own comic CMS where we process the Donald Duck to an optimal digital reading experience. You’ll be working on this CMS back-end and all other back-end services to provide the native apps with all the necessary content and data. We use a services oriented architecture and have services for reading progress, article content, homepage content, etc, and have plans for new services like article recommendation and gamification.

Where possible we make use of AWS native services.

You’ll mainly develop in Kotlin. It would be great if you have an interest in and knowledge of devops and AWS native services.

About the team

You will be working in the Magazines department which is responsible for numerous magazine titles, like Veronica Superguide, Donald Duck, Tina and Flair and some of the supporting applications.

The Donald Duck team works on the native apps and CMS, and is one of the three development teams within the department. Although the teams work independently, we encourage knowledge sharing and reuse of technology and tooling. This also makes it possible to switch between teams.

We offer

  • An experience-based salary.
  • 36-hour workweek.
  • 12% personal choice budget (of which 8% is holiday allowance).
  • Participation in the profit sharing arrangement.
  • Personal development opportunities such as education, training and certificates.
  • Location in Amsterdam (currently we work from home).
  • Working with the latest stack.
  • Knowledge sharing from our tech colleagues.

Even more reasons to work at DPG Media

At DPG Media, we work for more than 90 strong news brands, magazines, television shows, radio stations, and online services such as Qmusic, NU.nl, Tweakers, Libelle, and VTM. Although we look like a media group, we are really a tech company. We get digital transformation done.

We offer a high-performing tech workplace where we treasure freedom, from how you find solutions to choosing your path. Feel free to be an entrepreneur, an apprentice, a team player, and, of course, to be you. We welcome everyone to apply, whatever your background may be. A great bunch of smart colleagues awaits you and are eager for you to join the team, whether that be a project team, a pub quiz team, or a sports team.
