Rotterdam – As iOS developer you contribute to the biggest digital news brands in the Netherlands and Belgium. The impact you make is huge and contributes directly to the user experience.

On a daily basis our content reaches millions of users, making DPG Media the biggest media house of The Netherlands and Belgium. We have built a white-label platform for web and app which serves our 2 biggest national news brands and, as well as 8 regional brands in the Netherlands and Belgium.

About the team

You will be part of a cross-functional and agile app development team which consists of 8 people from different nationalities. We speak English to communicate with each other. You will be based in our Rotterdam office close to our editorial staff and other digital teams that work on this platform. Currently, we all work from home which works really well. Once we can return to our offices we most likely will not require our development teams to be in the office 5 days per week but come to a more hybrid way of working.

What are you going to do?

In this role you are closely involved with the product. Together with your colleagues you improve, maintain and add new features to the AD and HLN iOS apps. Between sprints, you do refinements and search for new opportunities, tools and techniques to improve the product. You also continuously search for ways to improve the software development process. In this role you will:

  • Focus primarily on the development of the mobile iOS apps, which have substantial React Native components
  • Play an important role between development, the product owner and our (UX) designers as part of our scrum team
  • Work with DevOps - "You build it, You Run it"! This means designing, coding, testing, deploying, implementing new features and doing day-to-day operations of our apps.

Job requirements

Job requirements

  • You have 5+ years of experience as an iOS developer, where you have built high traffic apps that are currently in the Appstore.
  • You have at least 3 years of work experience with Swift.
  • You have experience with CI / CD, dependency injection, concurrency, networking, unit testing.
  • Basic knowledge of Android
  • Experience with Objective-C, React Native and web technologies such as Javascript is a real bonus
  • Experience with Scrum or other Agile methodologies
  • Fluent in English, Dutch is a pre!
