Data Domain Architect

Antwerp/Amsterdam/Vilvoorde - The Data Domain Architect plays a central role within our decentralized data teams. These domains are the direct result of our company‑wide adoption of a Data Mesh architecture, making them end-to-end responsible for the design, build, and run of both data solutions and data products. Because you serve the entire DPG data community, your work will be highly visible and impactful.

In this environment, the Data Domain Architect ensures that the architecture within these domains, utilizing our central Data and ML platform technologies, is set up and used in a coherent, scalable, and secure way. You contribute to the long‑term vision of enabling easy, controlled data usage through a mandatory data governance framework. You advise the Data Area Manager and Enterprise Data Architect on translating this vision into concrete initiatives and epics that guide the roadmap.

Key responsibilities

• Advise data domains on data solutions, data modeling methodologies, and the optimal use of our central Data and ML platform technologies

• Guide and advise domains through complex data and platform migrations, ensuring smooth and secure transitions

• Work closely with the Data Area Manager and Enterprise Data Architect, who continuously help define priorities and ensure architectural coherence with the broader enterprise landscape

• Collaborate weekly with the Data Platform Solution Architects to ensure strict alignment on technology evolution and domain usage

• Maintain strong relationships with other architects, Data Domain Representatives, and stakeholders throughout the company to ensure the platforms meet the needs of the DPG data community

• Act as the voice of the domains: gather stakeholder feedback and translate this into practical platform functionality to bridge the gap between long-term architectural vision and daily operations

Experience and expertise

• At least five years of experience as a Data Architect or in a highly similar senior architectural role

• Deep understanding of modern data architecture principles. Knowledge and hands-on experience with Data Mesh concepts is a strong bonus

• Solid understanding of modern data technologies such as Snowflake, AWS, dbt, and Airflow

• Proven experience in guiding complex and/or technical migrations

• A strong ability to connect enterprise‑level strategy with practical, domain-level architecture

• You enjoy engaging with professionals across the company about data and ML technologies and are highly skilled at making complex concepts accessible for various stakeholders

• You consistently anchor decisions in facts, organizational context, and stakeholder needs, leaving personal preferences aside

• You naturally assume the role of a trusted advisor: you are calm, objective, and principled

• You apply architectural principles in a disciplined way and take full ownership of your work without needing external steering

• You thrive in an agile environment where long‑term vision and short‑term iteration must continuously be balanced

• Our core team is based in Antwerp and Vilvoorde, but we are open to talent from all over the Netherlands and Belgium. Do you live in Belgium? Then we expect you to be at the office 2 to 3 days a week on average for optimal collaboration. Do you live in the Netherlands? In that case, we will agree on a more flexible schedule, where we welcome you to Belgium at least once a week to maintain the connection with the team and the area
